In the dynamic and demanding fields of civil engineering, software development, and international business, voices of innovation and resilience are building the foundation for a more inclusive future. At StruEngineers, we are proud to champion this progress. For this feature, we turn the spotlight on the women whose expertise, leadership, and vision are not only driving our company’s success but also shaping the future of the AEC industry. We sat down with leaders across our teams—from civil engineers with decades of international experience to software developers building cutting-edge AI platforms —to discuss their journeys. We explored what “women empowerment” truly means to them , how they define success , and the advice they hold for the next generation. These are their stories, in their own words.

Kalpana Subandh,
Project Manager,
35 years of experience
With 35+ years of experience in civil engineering, I’ve had the opportunity to work on diverse international projects that have shaped my perspective and strengthened my adaptability. I chose civil engineering because I wanted to be part of building something lasting and meaningful. Working on international projects has exposed me to diverse challenges, especially managing tight deadlines and cross-cultural coordination, which taught me the importance of adaptability and clear communication. One of my dream projects is contributing to sustainable infrastructure that blends innovation with environmental responsibility.
As a woman in this field, I’ve faced gender-based challenges, but I’ve overcome them through confidence, continuous learning, and support from mentors. A highly inspirational civil engineering leader you can reference is Emily Warren Roebling. She played a pivotal role in the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in the United States during the late 19th century. Her leadership and determination broke gender barriers in a male-dominated field and made her a symbol of resilience and empowerment in civil engineering.
For me, success means growing consistently, making a meaningful impact, and helping others rise along the way.
I’m currently working on the Project Manager Project, a powerful tool that offers users complete 3D insight into their projects—covering design, production, transportation, and erection. It allows easy tracking of each element and visually illustrates the erection sequence for better planning and execution. For me, women empowerment in the civil industry means ensuring equal opportunities, fair recognition, and leadership roles for women in both technical and managerial domains.
StruEngineers has played a key role in my growth by offering challenging projects, continuous learning, and mentorship from experienced engineers. This supportive culture has helped me build confidence and sharpen my technical skills. I define success as creating efficient, reliable solutions that solve real problems and add measurable value. What I love most about my team is the strong collaboration and knowledge sharing that drive innovation.
StruEngineers truly stands out for its commitment to both people and progress, making it an inspiring place to grow and contribute.

I’m currently engaged in projects such as DWG editor dimensioning, IFC import, and Eyeshot integration. Among these, the IFC import has been the most challenging due to its complex structure and the intricacies of interpreting various geometries, which has significantly expanded my technical understanding.
In the context of our industry, especially within the StruSoft ecosystem where structural analysis and BIM integration are key, women empowerment means fostering an environment where women are encouraged to take on technical and leadership roles. It’s about providing mentorship, visibility, and confidence to shape the future of digital construction. To young girls entering engineering, I’d say: stay curious — always ask “why” and “how,” and explore technologies like FEM-Design, Eyeshot, BIM, and AI. Every new skill is a tool for creative problem-solving.
For me, success is when my work adds value, aligns with my purpose, and inspires others to believe in their potential.
To be honest, civil engineering is something that happened to me unexpectedly—but once I began my graduation, I realized how truly fascinating the field is. Each subject felt like its own branch, opening up new dimensions of learning and curiosity. My journey began there. One of the most rewarding experiences in this field is watching a structure that once existed only as drawings and calculations transform into a real, physical building.
There’s a deep sense of pride in knowing that your work stands in the real world—literally. While the civil and structural engineering space can sometimes carry traditional biases, I’ve been fortunate to work with teams that value skill and performance. In moments where I sensed bias, I focused on clear communication, technical excellence, and collaboration—actions that helped shift the focus from stereotypes to results.
For me, success means continuous growth: learning from every project, improving designs, and mentoring others along the way.
